The Barony of St. Swithin’s Bog typically hosts multiple events throughout the year:
Twelfth Night – Typically the third Saturday in January
- Annually held in January, this is a wonderful winter event filled with pageantry, dancing, arts & sciences and marshal activities.
Newcomer’s Event / Siege Muster – Traditionally held in the Spring
- Learn more about the SCA and St. Swithin’s Bog. Hear an introduction to all marshal activities (armored combat, fencing, thrown weapons, archery, siege weapons, youth combat). Visit tables demonstrating our Art or Science activity (Blacksmith, Tablet Weaving, Scribal Arts, Spinning, Basic/Beginners Garb).
- The crew of the Bog Infernal Machine and other instruments of projectile pummeling host any who would be interested in expanding their knowledge of the science behind the art of period artillery.
Bog 3-Day – Typically the second 3-Day Weekend in July
- Annually held in July and also doubles as our Investiture event for when a new Baron & Baroness sit upon the Cattail thrones
Baronial Champs – Annually held in the fall
- Bog populace participate in fencing, heavy weapons, archery and thrown weapons tournaments to decide who will be next year’s Baronial Champions.
Other events are held all over the United States and Europe throughout the year.
Society for Creative Anachronism – This includes Society events but also links to all of the Kingdom Calendars
Pennsic War – This is a Kingdom of AEthelmearc event held annually toward the end of July and beginning of August. This event attracts members of the SCA from all over the world and offers everything from great battles to smaller matches as well as merchants and classes.
